Borouge Marketing - Testing Lab Manager

Borouge Pte Ltd is now seeking an outstanding individual for the post of Testing Lab Manager. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and reporting to Scientific Services Group Manager – Innovation Centre.
Role Purpose:
Overall responsible for all technical and quality issues within their section. Assign the work in their team according to agreed priorities. Responsible for HSE&Q performance in own area
Contribution:
C1. Area or Responsibility:
• Establish, propose for approval and follow-up fixed and investment costs budget for their respective area.
• Make sure that Borouge working procedures are understood and applied in the laboratories.
• Act as deputy of the laboratory manager during his absence
• Handle and close all lab related incident report.
• Contribute with technical / scientific expertise in problem solving and claim handling.
• Make sure that operating instruction & laboratory documents required by relevant quality standards and certification bodies are available.
• Contributes actively in meetings and networks by giving relevant input into the strategy process
KPIs
• Achievement of defined specific targets set by Scientific Services Group Manager
• Achievement of agreed budget targets
• Meeting targets for HSE&Q performance
C2. People:
• Responsible for development of own personnel, trainees
• Develop continuously the technical/scientific competencies of the group and make sure that researchers are continuously searching / consulting the scientific and patent literature
• Ensure that their team is highly motivated
• Builds a team containing the required skills and behaviours and initiates plans for succession.
• Coach his people so that results are achieved and motivation is increased

• Following the Borouge Pte People Process
• Ensures relevant scientific and technical skills in team
C3. Customer:
• Represent the laboratories in the coordination meetings with BU and QC colleagues
• Contributes pro-actively (challenging, influencing, deciding…) as a project team member applying high expertise in his relevant field in order to optimize the directions in the project.

• Meeting agreed IP projects in time by overall timely delivery of testing results
C4. Interfaces:
• Become active member of Borouge/Borealis internal scientific networks
• Establish technical contacts with external universities, institutes
• Follow-up international test standards applicable in their area and become member of selected standardization committees in order to promote / defend Borouge’s interests

• Smooth working relationships across all levels
• Ensures that Internal and external co-operation targets are met
• Drives standardisation to meet Borouge targets in BU agreed standardisation committees
Skills:
S1. Education
• Graduate (MS or PhD) in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Engineering or a related discipline
S2. Experience
• > 10 years relevant industrial experience
• > 5 years experience in managing a small team of researcher / technicians
• Good knowledge of plastic market and application
• Excellent knowledge of general plastics processing, testing ,analytical equipments and techniques
• Excellent knowledge of scientific methods and tools
• Demonstrated experience in scientific/technical literature searches
• Excellent knowledge of IPR patenting process and patent writing
• Planning, prioritization ,communication (oral & written), presentation, accuracy, coaching, feedback
• English (reading, writing, speaking)
