Borouge Marketing - Senior Laboratory Technician

Borouge Pte Ltd is now seeking an outstanding individual for the post of Laboratory Technician. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and reporting to Testing Lab Manager - Innovation Centre.
Role Purpose:
Perform routine tests according to standard known procedures and introduce results in LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). Accountable for repair, maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and ordering of spare parts. Contributes to equipment and method development in order to improve the way of working.

Contribution:
C1. Area or Responsibility:
• Understand in details the operation of specific relevant equipments and the impact of testing parameters on the end results
• Report test result interpretation from own findings to the requester for further consideration
• Monitor the level of adherence to safety procedures internally and externally, educating others where necessary to comply with safety standards
• Take responsibility for ensuring quality of operational activities within own area
• Plan and execute independently a range of tasks/activities to deliver on time in order to contribute to meet targets
• Validate laboratory results in LIMS
• Accountable for repair, maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and ordering of spare parts
• Responsible for follow up of inventory level of calibration standards, laboratory consumables (chemicals, glassware…) and utility gases. Coordinate supply from the local warehouse
• Responsible for housekeeping and waste handling in their section
• Participate in the start up and commissioning of new equipments
• Keep trouble shooting record for all the instruments
• Do non routine analysis and special studies under the supervision of a researcher
• React promptly to specific operational problems seeking advices or referring the issue to an appropriate team member where necessary in order to guarantee the continuity of the operations

Skills:
S1. Education
• Technician, operator or equivalent technical degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or a related discipline
S2. Experience
• > 5 years relevant industrial experience
• Good knowledge of plastics and laboratory equipments
• Advanced knowledge of specific relevant plastic processing, testing and analytical equipments and techniques
• Planning, communication, presentation, accuracy, maintenance, coaching
• IT&S tools
