Borouge Pte Ltd is now seeking an outstanding individual for the post of Senior Engineer/Researcher. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and reporting to Testing Lab Manager - Innovation Centre.
Role Purpose:
Develop and implement appropriate test methods including knowledge of detection limits, tolerance limits within their area. Contribute with technical / scientific expertise in problem solving and claim handling. Assist in developing the most efficient product test/evaluation plan.
Contribution:
C1. Area or Responsibility:
• Develop continuously technical/scientific competencies / skills by searching / consulting the scientific and patent literature
• Are able to detect abnormalities in results, methods in their areas
• Validate test results in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Publish and communicate test and /or study reports
• Organize and perform new equipment commissioning
• Write scientific articles / presentations to be communicated in scientific journals and conferences
• Contribute to Innovation process by filing Invention Disclosures, participating to IPR protection
• Draws conclusions from investigations leading to new product / method specifications and knowledge development.
• Collects, concludes and reports results based on own expertise
• Takes responsibility for implementing safety measures and improvements according to the Borouge procedures and principles.

• Perform technical trainings of internal customers
• Train external visitors / third parties on test methods
• Gives training to customers in order to increase common understanding of used methods
• Independently and systematically initiates, plans, concludes and reports results in order to recommend a solution for the problem to the requester

C4. Interfaces:
• Be active in developing scientific / technical networks within the region covered by Borouge
• Becomes a key discussion partner towards Innovation projects, BU product development activities and to the Ruwais site.
• Co-ordinates and/or lead the activities of a small team to achieve the targeted results
• Organize and perform round robin tests with Borealis laboratories
• Raise the technical profile of Borouge by giving technical presentations at selected international conferences

Skills:
S1. Education
• Graduate (MS or PhD) in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Engineering or a related discipline
S2. Experience
• > 5 years relevant industrial experience
• Good knowledge of plastic market and application
• Excellent knowledge of general plastics and laboratory equipments
• Excellent knowledge of scientific methods and tools
• Demonstrated experience in scientific/technical literature searches
• Excellent knowledge of IPR patenting process and patent writing
• Communication (oral & written), presentation, accuracy, coaching, feedback
