Borouge Pte Ltd is now seeking an outstanding individual for the post of Engineer/Researcher. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and reporting to Testing Lab Manager - Innovation Centre.

Role Purpose:
Develop and implement appropriate testing procedures related to development of new products, investigation of problems or customers complaints. Proactively contribute in Borouge / Borealis innovation process through actively researching scientific literature and collecting and reporting findings based on own expertise.

Contribution:
C1. Area or Responsibility:
• Develop and implement appropriate test methods including knowledge of detection limits, tolerance limits within their area
• Ability to detect abnormalities in results, methods in their areas
• Validate test results in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Publish and communicate test and /or study reports
• Fill in Investment Approval Forms
• Organize and perform new equipment commissioning
• Contribute to solving of IPR related issues
• Operate laboratory equipments
• Contribute to Innovation process by filing Invention Disclosures, participating to IPR protection
• Independently and systematically initiates, plans, concludes and reports results in order to recommend a solution for the problem to the requester
• Draws conclusions from investigations leading to new product / method specifications and knowledge development.
• Collects, concludes and reports results based on own expertise
• Ensures that new proposals and ways of working are conforming to company safety standards

C2. People:
• Perform technical trainings of internal customers and assist in developing the most efficient product test/evaluation plan
• Train external visitors / third parties on test methods

• Gives recommendations in a pro-active way in order to avoid problems and/or improve performance

C3. Customer:
• Gives training to customers in order to increase common understanding of used methods
• Contribute with technical / scientific expertise in problem solving and claim handling

C4. Interfaces:
• Write scientific articles / presentations to be communicated in scientific journals and conferences
• Organize and perform round robin tests with Borealis laboratories
• Develop continuously its technical/scientific competencies / skills by searching / consulting the scientific and patent literature

Skills:
S1. Education
• Graduate (MS or PhD) in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Engineering or a related discipline
S2. Experience
• 1- 5 years relevant industrial experience
• Good knowledge of general plastics and laboratory equipments
• Good knowledge of scientific methods and tools
• Good practical experience in scientific/technical literature searches
• Good knowledge of IPR patenting process
• Communication (oral & written), presentation, accuracy, coaching
• English (reading, speaking, writing)
