Sr. Drilling Engineer
Please be advised that we have an urgent requirement for the post of Sr. Drilling Engineer on Direct Hire Basis for an Oil and Gas Company based in Abu Dhabi.

1. Job Purpose:

To be the focal point in Drilling Division for drilling input into all long term development planning issues related to the COMPANY’S business plan – e.g. 600 MBD oil production by 2008 project.
To work with DD staff and other Divisions and perform all drilling engineering review, option generation and engineering design work necessary to ensure highest value COMPANY’S project plans.
To work with CPL to ensure that drilling elements of long term development plans are fed into the bar chart correctly and appropriately.
To undertake drilling engineering projects as directed.

2. Principal Accountabilities:

.2.1.- Works in line with HSE policy and ensures compliance with well integrity and HSE rules and regulations
.2.2.- Acts as “Focal Point” for Drilling Division for all long term development planning issues.
.2.3.- Performs all the drilling engineering planning and review work necessary to ensure that the highest value well designs and other relevant drilling input are incorporated into COMPANY’S project plans.
.2.4.- Ensures that drilling input is delivered according to the overall project plan schedule.
.2.5.- Makes recommendations on future drilling rig and barge strategy in order to maximise value from long term development plans.
.2.6.- Undertakes drilling engineering review projects as directed and makes recommendations to improve performance and integrity. These would include for example: casing design review for Umm Shaif Khuff gas producer wells and associated Arab / Thamama gas injector wells, casing design review for Umm Shaif Zakum and Upper Zakum wells, drilling technology review for COMPANY’S DD operations.
.2.7.- Provides input into revising the Well Integrity Standards.
.2.8.- Provides input into revising the Standard Drilling Instructions.
.2.9.- Provides input into revising the Drilling Safety Instructions.
.2.10.- Provides drilling performance presentation material as required for Drilling Workshops, QPR’s and TCM’s.
.2.11.- Reports to DRETL and participates in Task Forces on specific issues as directed.

3. Communications & Organizational Relationship:
§ Maintains close liaison with CPL and COMPANY’S 600 MBD project team to ensure good communications and alignment
§ Maintains close liaison with drilling operations, services and engineering teams to ensure correct drilling input is incorporated into COMPANY’S long term development plans
§ Maintains close liaison with other companies and with Contractors / Service Companies to ensure latest techniques and technologies are incorporated into COMPANY’S long term development plans
§ Reports to Drilling Engineering Team Leader and performs tasks according to his directives.

7. Minimum Requirements (Knowledge Skills & Experience):

a) BSc in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering. Must be computer proficient.
b) Minimum 10 years experience in engineering design and planning of drilling operations. Experience of working with multiple different types of well.
c) Experience of working with project management tools and techniques.
d) Track record of success in improving drilling performance through effective drilling engineering input. Excellent network with major suppliers. Varied international experience highly valued.
e) Must be capable of excellent verbal and written communication with a broad spectrum of people; partner and company management, engineers from other disciplines, explorationists, administration, materials, rig and contractor personnel, etc.
