Qualifications, Job purpose & Experience:
Diploma in Chemical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer.
University graduate in science stream.
Desirable Window based Emersion Delta V DCS operation.
Good communication and reporting skill.
Familiar with process safety and PTW system.
Can independently work in field during Plant shut down.
Fair knowledge of P&L diagrams & SOP write-ups.
Experience 7-10 years on DCS Operation in large Petrochemical Industries. Preference will be given to Methanol and Ammonia Plant DCS Operator.

Knowledge on On-line and Off-line equipment vibration monitoring system. Preferably Emersion CSI Portable Analyzer and Bentley Nevada Vibration Monitoring System.
Ability to exercise sound judgment to make quick, accurate and safe decision in response to emergencies and abnormal situations.
Strong analytical, negotiation, project management and communication skills.
Skilled in problem diagnosis and well versed in all relevant codes and standards.
Experience 8-10 years in the Inspection / Reliability Section of Petrochemical / Process Industry, out of this a minimum 2 years as CMI Supervisor Rotating Equipment.

I. Job Purpose & Scope:
The Field Optimization Engineer is in charge of optimizing drilling operations by optimizing new drilling practices and technologies that can improve well quality and reduce well time and cost.

III. Main Duties/Accountabilities:
Performs all or any combination of the following Tasks:
a. Conducts detailed time study of offset wells.
b. Analyzes offset data, including bits, BHA’s, equipment and tools failure. Define visible and invisible Non-Productive Time, etc…
c. Identify areas for improvement, recommend solutions and initiate implementation plan.
d. Develops BHA and hydraulic solutions utilizing the proper engineering software. Develops an understanding of the root causes of drillability problems, including rocks mechanical properties and bit / motor types.
e. Carries out post well review to ensure that lessons learnt are captured for planning the subsequent wells.
f. Communicates with international research and engineering departments, associations and organizations to keep abreast with latest techniques, designs and ideas that have bearing on the improvement of drilling performance.
IV. Main Duties/Accountabilities (Continue) :
g. Participates in developing an effective knowledge management system. Initiate and / or coordinate the issuance of newsletter to publish present performance and best practices.
h. Is fully aware of the company Health, Safety and Environment Policy, Procedures, Regulations and Objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility. Ensures that work under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner. Ensures that new well engineering solutions and practices have no negative impact on HSE or life cycle end product quality. Implements specific safety management system program activities assigned to him.

V. Job Context
The job incumbent plays major role in following up an updated technologies and practices related to drilling issues.
Recommends the best practices to maintain well quality and reduce cost.

Physical Requirements:
Minimal physical effort required.

Work Environment
Air-conditioned office 80% of the time.
Occasional trips to rig sites (exposure to prevailing either conditions (20% of the time).

VI. Communications and Working Relationships/Work Contacts
a. Has frequent outside contacts with contractors and manufacturers representatives to discuss equipment specifications, new techniques and tackle specific problems.
b. Have frequent contacts with the personnel of other departments and divisions, as the job requires (Petroleum Development, and Information Technology).
c. Has regular contacts with division personnel up to Head of Department level to obtain information and give advise.

VII. Latitude Exercised, Decision Making authority and Responsibility
Reports to the Drilling Team Leader (Studies). Works according to Drilling & Petroleum Engineering standards and practices. Refers to his supervisor on major problems. Completed work is subject to review and directions.
Works at his sole capacity to achieve the required work assignments.

VIII. Performance Measures
Successful Performance in this role is measures by establishing metrics in the following areas:
1. Off-Line operations are optimized
2. Lessons learned system is effectively working
3. Critical drilling issues such as NPT, flat time, active time, ---etc are analyzed and optimized

IX. Minimum Qualification, Knowledge, Skills and Experience/ (Key Competencies)
a. Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical or relevant engineering.
b. 10 years experience in Drilling & Workover Operations / Engineering.
c. Very good knowledge of English language.

1. Job Purpose:

To be the focal point in Drilling Division for drilling input into all long term development planning issues related to the COMPANY’S business plan – e.g. 600 MBD oil production by 2008 project.
To work with DD staff and other Divisions and perform all drilling engineering review, option generation and engineering design work necessary to ensure highest value COMPANY’S project plans.
To work with CPL to ensure that drilling elements of long term development plans are fed into the bar chart correctly and appropriately.
To undertake drilling engineering projects as directed.

2. Principal Accountabilities:

.2.1.- Works in line with HSE policy and ensures compliance with well integrity and HSE rules and regulations
.2.2.- Acts as “Focal Point” for Drilling Division for all long term development planning issues.
.2.3.- Performs all the drilling engineering planning and review work necessary to ensure that the highest value well designs and other relevant drilling input are incorporated into COMPANY’S project plans.
.2.4.- Ensures that drilling input is delivered according to the overall project plan schedule.
.2.5.- Makes recommendations on future drilling rig and barge strategy in order to maximise value from long term development plans.
.2.6.- Undertakes drilling engineering review projects as directed and makes recommendations to improve performance and integrity. These would include for example: casing design review for Umm Shaif Khuff gas producer wells and associated Arab / Thamama gas injector wells, casing design review for Umm Shaif Zakum and Upper Zakum wells, drilling technology review for COMPANY’S DD operations.
.2.7.- Provides input into revising the Well Integrity Standards.
.2.8.- Provides input into revising the Standard Drilling Instructions.
.2.9.- Provides input into revising the Drilling Safety Instructions.
.2.10.- Provides drilling performance presentation material as required for Drilling Workshops, QPR’s and TCM’s.
.2.11.- Reports to DRETL and participates in Task Forces on specific issues as directed.

3. Communications & Organizational Relationship:
§ Maintains close liaison with CPL and COMPANY’S 600 MBD project team to ensure good communications and alignment
§ Maintains close liaison with drilling operations, services and engineering teams to ensure correct drilling input is incorporated into COMPANY’S long term development plans
§ Maintains close liaison with other companies and with Contractors / Service Companies to ensure latest techniques and technologies are incorporated into COMPANY’S long term development plans
§ Reports to Drilling Engineering Team Leader and performs tasks according to his directives.

7. Minimum Requirements (Knowledge Skills & Experience):

a) BSc in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering. Must be computer proficient.
b) Minimum 10 years experience in engineering design and planning of drilling operations. Experience of working with multiple different types of well.
c) Experience of working with project management tools and techniques.
d) Track record of success in improving drilling performance through effective drilling engineering input. Excellent network with major suppliers. Varied international experience highly valued.
e) Must be capable of excellent verbal and written communication with a broad spectrum of people; partner and company management, engineers from other disciplines, explorationists, administration, materials, rig and contractor personnel, etc.
